You Don’t Have to Choose Between Barre Class and a Barbecue

Y

BarreBeCuties (BBQts) know that Health at Every Size means pursuing health as it is joyous & meaningful to YOU

And on auspicious days of BBQs like Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day – you can have your cake and eat it, too. (Pulitzer Prize for Poetry, I await thee.)

You have the right to enjoy your BBQ fare but also the right to choose foods and movements that nourish your body and brain.

What that translates to, in practice, for me, anyways, is catching the early bird virtual Pilates class so I can dedicate the rest of my morning to massaging kale for my guests.

HEALTH ISN’T BLACK AND WHITE. NUTRITION ISN’T BLACK AND WHITE. I AM SHOUTING BECAUSE I CARE ABOUT YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH FOOD. ‼️‼️

Enjoy your summer seasonal food events with gusto, not because “you earned it” in the gym, but because you earned it by being ALIVE.

Celebrate the privilege to move your body in ways that make you merry; not in order to earn the Memorial Day cookie cake you impulse bought at Publix yesterday (what? me?)

You’re not holier than thou for skipping social events and fun foods for the sake of fitness. That’s disordered. You’re as holed up as Swiss cheese (yay dairy!) if you think in extremes and equate food with “discipline.”

Enjoy your barre class before or after your BARbecue, and make it fashion with sparkly socks and edible confetti on your fruit salad.
