Nutrition for the Course

N

Catch the Masters?!? While not all of us can be Scottie Scheffler, who fun fact – loves pineapples, we sure can attempt to play as well. For optimal performance, one should eat and hydrate before, during and after rounds.

Eat breakfast! Think of balanced meals that can sustain you. It does not have to be complicated or labor intensive. Some meal ideas that could be prepped from the day before:

  • Egg muffins
  • Greek yogurt parfait with ground flax/chia seeds + berries + nuts + cinnamon + optional unsweetened coconut flakes (add in the am)
  • Hard boiled eggs + fruit + optional avocado
  • Overnight oats made with kefir + ground flax + nut or seed butter + banana

Since a typical 18-hole round of golf can last at minimum 4 hours, snacking on the course is essential. Ideas include:

  • Dried cheese snacks such as Parm Crisps
  • Assorted unsalted nuts
  • Fruit + single serve nut butter packets from brands like Artisana
  • Snack bars are undeniably convenient BUT read the ingredients; some recommended brands include Made Good, ALOHA
  • Roasted edamame
  • 100% beef or salmon jerky

Drink water – lots of it – especially in the Miami sun. While electrolyte replacement drinks sound enticing, water should be all you need! Now get out there and have some fun + watch out if someone yells FORE.
